Effective April 22, 2010, the government will mandate that contractors completing work on pre-1978 properties be certified and follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination, according to the EPA. This includes renovation contractors, maintenance workers in mult-family housing, painters and other specialty trades. You can find out more information at http://www.epa.gov/lead/pubs/renovation.htm.
